District 1
We are a district of the Kentucky
Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association. District #1 represents
seven counties and works in concert with the Kentucky Nurses Association to
represent professional nurses and improve the quality of services provided in
the Commonwealth.
Membership is
open to nurses who live in Jefferson, Oldham, Bullitt, Henry, Shelby, Spencer,
and Trimble counties. We currently have ~400 nurses in membership, but we
represent the interest of some 10,000 nurses in the community who are not
presently members.
General
membership meetings are held in a variety of locations throughout the year.
Many of the meetings have an educational component offering approved contact
hours for Kentucky’s continuing education requirements for nurses. In addition,
these meetings provide opportunities for members to meet and socialize with
their peers over dinner, to learn about association activities, to provide input
to the Board of Directors and to learn about political issues of interest.
