Philosophy of Continuing Education Cabinet
- Continuing Education in Nursing consists of those learning
activities intended to build upon the educational and experiential
bases of the professional nurse for the enhancement of practice,
education, administration, research, or theory development to the
end of improving the health of the public.
- The Kentucky Nurses Association believes that participation by the
nurse in continuing education activities has a positive effect on
nursing care as evidenced by continuous quality improvement.
- The Kentucky Nurses Association is committed to continuing
education for nurses as one means for maintaining competency,
meeting current standards of practice, and promoting excellence in
nursing care.
- The Kentucky Nurses Association believes that all planners and
providers of continuing education for nurses should assess learning
needs on an ongoing basis and systematically evaluate the
effectiveness of continuing education activities.
- The Kentucky Nurses Association recognizes its obligation to
respond to request from individual practitioners of nursing,
educators, and employers for updating knowledge and skills of nurses
in Kentucky.
The Kentucky Nurses Association believes it has the
responsibility to contribute to statewide planning of continuing
education for nurses.
- The Kentucky Nurses Association supports statutes and regulation
which require evidence of continuing education a criterion for
relicensure of each nurse.
